Blackout Blinds are essentially roller blinds that are installed with your shades.  They are operated by a side chain that allows you to open or shut them, letting in the amount of light desired. 

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE BLINDS I NEED?

There are two types of installation: Inside Mount and Outside Mount.

Inside Mount Measurement for Blackout Blinds

Inside Mount Measurement for Blackout Blinds is when the blinds are installed inside the window casing.

1. Measure the exact inside width, to the closest 1/8^th inch, of the window casing from the left inside edge to the right inside edge at the top, middle and bottom of the window. Record the narrowest measurement as this will be your ordering width.
2. Measure the exact inside height, to the closest 1/8^th inch, of the window casing from the top inside edge to the bottom inside edge at the left, middle and right side of the window. Record the longest measurement as this will be your ordering height.
3. Do not make any deductions on width for clearance; the manufacturing facility will make any necessary deductions to ensure the shade fits.

Outside Mount Measurement for Blackout Blinds

Outside mount Blackout Blinds are installed outside the window casing, covering an area larger than the window opening itself.

1. Measure the exact width to be covered to the closest 1/8^th inch. Make sure the measurement overlaps the window opening by at least 2" - 3" on each side (4" - 6" total overlap) to ensure light control and privacy. Typically measured from the left outer edge of the window molding to the right outer edge. Please contact us if you have questions.
2. Measure the exact height to be covered to the closest 1/8^th inch, including the desired overlap. Typically measured from the top outer edge of the molding to the bottom outer edge of the molding. If you plan to install the shades above the molding, please ensure you add the necessary height to account for it.
3. The factory makes no deductions on outside mount shades.
